2012 Dance and Cheerleading Worlds
I was very lucky to have the opportunity to attend the USASF 2012 Dance and Cheerleading Worlds held in Disneyworld, Orlando earlier this year. The competition is the pinnacle of competition dance and cheerleading with teams from all over the world competing. 2012 saw 120 teams representing 40 countries outside the US along with the top 10 U.S. teams contending for ‘Worlds’ glory.
The glitz and excitement of this event is amazing, the energy and enthusiasm emitting from the performers and audience totally infectious. The stunting is breathtaking, seemingly effortless with outstanding strength and technique. Tumbling was a brilliant mix of tucks, layouts and double twists just to name a few and the fast paced dance sections precision plus! It was great to see Aussie teams compete with the Australian Dreamgirls coached by Rosemary Sims winning Silver in the All Girl Level 5 and the Australian Outlaws winning Bronze in the Elite Level 5 division. Both teams also placed an amazing 5th in the IASF Nations Cup held on the same weekend. Aussie Aussie Aussie!
FAD Bayside’s Pure Insanity won a bid at the 2011 WCC Asia Pacific Finals for their ‘Proud Mary’ routine. 2013 will see Pure Insanity take up their bid and be the first FAD team to compete at Dance World’s!!! Go FAD!!
