We are going to be looking at some performance tips to help clean and perfect your routines!
Technique & Strength
Work to maintain energy level throughout routine with correct body alignment.
You are judged on your performance of that choreography- ensure that you give the best possible demonstration you can.
Ensure that you have clear execution of moves with strong, controlled posture and correct foot and limb placement throughout routine.
Create excitement and energy through your expression.
Ensure that your facial expressions match and work well with the style or genre of the routine
When presenting your routine at a competition, if you look like you’re enjoying yourself, then chances are they are too.
Appearance should be neat and tidy with personal grooming such as hair, make up and appropriate support being the basic criteria for the Judges.
Ensure additions to the costumes such as hats or head pieces are pinned securely or if designed to come off, only come off as choreographed.
Synchronisation and Timing
Timing – be sure to keep in time with the music and with each other.
Perform the routine as a team, not as individual dancers. Judges score on Uniformity and synchronisation of movement
Remember these and you’re sure to hit a clean, neat routine at your next competition!
